Card Contest
Over 50 students submitted Post Cards to be judged by the members of the Chamber of Commerce. Three winners were selected to receive Chamber Bucks.

Iowa Duck Stamp Contest
November was POP TAB collection at A-W.
Akron- Westfield Art Students will decorate paper bags with positive and inspirational messages and fun drawings. These bags are filled with meals for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Sioux City, Iowa. These decorated bags help to try and brighten the days of the families.
A-W collected 53 lbs this year. Bringing our over total donated to 156 lbs.
Students are given the opportunity to submit work. They are required to select a species of duck to draw or paint. Submissions are sent in and then voted on. If selected, they are invited to the Iowa Duck Stamp Contest Gala in May.
Akron- Westfield Students have placed in the top two in their age category the past two years.
Art I
First quarter we focused on drawing, dabbled in oil pastels, collaging and installation pieces. Second Quarter we continued focus on drawing. Our main focus has been a Still Life.

8th Grade has Art for one quarter. They are introduced to drawing, pottery, painting and textiles with a new teacher.
Pottery “Monsters- Zila”
Khai
This is Zila, she is 13 years old. The monster has a family of three, her and her mom and dad. Zila loves people so much. She loves to be kind and always make people feel like they’re important. That’s why she’s holding a little heart. Zila wants everyone to feel loved because you never know what other monsters are going through.
